Afghanistan facilitating India, Israel in drone attacks, alleges KP governor

Faisal Karim Kundi vows decisive action against militants, pledges modern weapons and additional recruitment for police
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has alleged that Afghanistan is facilitating India and Israel and that drones are being sent from Afghan territory into Pakistan.
Speaking about the security situation in the province, the governor said there was no alternative to winning the war against terrorism, warning that those waging war against the state would face a firm response.
He said the provincial police would receive full support, including modern weapons and equipment, to strengthen their capacity to combat militancy.
Mr Kundi said the police department had approximately 17,000 vacant positions, rather than the previously cited figure of 10,000, adding that efforts would be made to fill the vacancies at the earliest.
He stressed the need for intelligence-based operations (IBOs) to restore peace and said such measures should receive political backing.
The governor accused Afghanistan of facilitating India and Israel, alleging that drones were being dispatched from Afghan territory. The allegations could not be independently verified.
Criticising the previous provincial government, Mr Kundi claimed that it had failed to support the state in its fight against terrorism. However, he said his administration would continue the previous government's initiatives that had produced positive results.
He also pledged to pursue Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's financial rights and resources with the federal government.
Referring to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the governor said that while the political leader had his own position, the administration could not suspend its work because of political differences.
Mr Kundi further criticised those who, according to him, encouraged other people's children to participate in jihad while sending their own children to Europe and Turkiye.
He reiterated that restoring peace, strengthening the police and confronting militancy would remain central priorities of his administration.
