New office-bearers elected as union president pledges to protect contractors' rights and ensure transparency in decision-making

WANA: Niaz Muhammad Wazir has been elected president of the Wana Contractors Union in South Waziristan Lower after securing a majority of votes in the union elections.

According to the election results, Asif Khan was elected vice-president, Fazal Khan general secretary, Muhammad Rafiq finance secretary, Rasool Zaman deputy finance secretary, Shakir Khan Ahmadzai information secretary and Amir Khatam Wazir office secretary.

Speaking after his election, Mr Wazir said he would represent all contractors without discrimination and work to safeguard their rights during his tenure.

He said ensuring transparency, merit and fair treatment of union members would remain his priorities. He added that no contractor would be deprived of his legitimate rights or subjected to unnecessary difficulties.

Mr Wazir thanked the Ahmadzai Wazir community for reposing confidence in him and pledged to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to him.

He said contractors facing difficulties, unfair treatment or other problems could approach the union, which would take up their grievances with the relevant authorities.

The newly elected president said the Wana Contractors Union represented the entire contractors' community and would not allow personal differences or group rivalries to affect its affairs.

He said major decisions would be taken in consultation with union members to maintain unity and mutual trust within the organisation.

Meanwhile, members of the contractors' community congratulated Mr Wazir and the newly elected office-bearers, expressing hope that the new leadership would work for their collective interests and address the problems faced by contractors.
